Why Concealed Carry Training?

As of January, 2007 Kansas began issuing private citizens concealed carry firearm permits. Many very responsible gun owners have read over the requirements and wondered why they should be required to take concealed carry training. The argument we have heard from many people is that they were a member of the military, a licensed armed security guard or perhaps even an NRA approved range safety officer or instructor. They feel that they have adequate training to handle a firearm responsibly on an everyday basis. This is honestly probably true. However, what many people fail to realize is that the concealed carry classes address a very specific situation. When you are issued a permit and choose to carry your gun, you are now doing this as a private citizen, not as a soldier or agent of any other agency. This means that you need to fully understand all rules and the implications of the license. These classes are not just for the protection of the community, they are for the protection of the potential license holder.

What Happens In Concealed Carry Classes?

At Target Master Shooting Academy, LLC we offer the necessary shooting courses and classes in the Overland Park area. Concealed carry classes are 8 hours long and we include an extra hour for lunch. We schedule most of our courses on Saturdays and Wednesdays, but it is always best to consult our online class schedule. During your concealed carry training you will learn about your rights and responsibilities as a private citizen carrying a firearm in the state of Kansas. You also can expect it to be fun as well as informative and you will get to spend the day with other people exercising their right to bear arms.
