Who Qualifies For Concealed Carry Handguns?

Are you interested in concealed carry training? Target Master Shooting Academy, LLC offers the training necessary to acquire your concealed carry permit in Kansas. We realize that many people wonder if they qualify, and the answer is if you are a legal gun owner, you probably do. It is easier to list who does not qualify for consideration of concealed carry handguns. Convicted felons, those dishonorably discharged from the military and those ordered by the court to receive mental illness or substance abuse treatments are automatically disqualified. Anyone with domestic abuse or substance abuse related misdemeanors (including two or more DUIs) will probably also be disqualified, as will those in contempt of court in child support proceedings or those with any type of weapons conviction. Anyone who has ever been appointed a legal guardian, even if they are now considered capable, or has pending charges may also be disqualified. Basically, the average adult without a criminal record will be eligible to apply for a Kansas concealed carry license. The process is not as complicated as you may think.

Obtaining A Kansas Concealed Carry License

It is fairly easy to understand the process you must complete to apply for your licence. There is a required course on concealed carry handguns and you must have a document that certifies you have successfully completed one offered by an approved trainer, such as Target Master Shooting Academy, LLC. You will also need to complete a four page application, which requires a recent passport style photograph. These materials, along with a $40 fee for the county Sheriff and $110 application fee payable to the Kansas Attorney General must be turned into your local Sheriff in person. It is important to note that only cashier's checks and money orders will be accepted for the payments. When you turn in your application packet, the Sheriff's office will take your fingerprints and application, and the KBI will run a background check. By law, a Kansas concealed carry permit application must be held for review for at least 45 days and for at most 90, so you should have your answer within about three months.
